Kathy Goodwin-WillaimsN

Kathy Goodwin-Williams
is currently a member of Council in the Village of Lincoln Heights, and is the appointed Chair of their Economic Development Committee. She has been a member of council since January 2016. Having been born and raised in Lincoln Heights, Kathy’s mission to advance the Village has been a driving force in discovering her potential to be a positive influence statewide. Her accomplishments on Council include, but are not limited to: (1) Creating the Lincoln Heights Comprehensive Development Corporation that is committed to improving the Village’s economic stance and implementing green infrastructure, (2) Introducing and passing several pieces of legislation pertaining to the Village and its surrounding neighborhoods, and (3) Working with businesses, organizations, local, state and federal government in an effort to complete the village’s goal of redevelopment.

Being an experienced Councilwoman, Kathy was audacious enough to continue her run for State Representative of Ohio’s 33rd District despite not having received the endorsement of the Democratic Party. Her decision to stay in the
race, came off the heels of having faced several roadblocks in her quest to better her community, and to continue getting meaningful results. For Kathy, adopting the campaign mantra, “Kathy Can!,“ serves as both a reminder of her unflappable fortitude, and a motivator to continue her ministry of leading and serving beyond the borders of the Village of Lincoln Heights.

CAREER
Kathy’s professional career includes her current business Pathways To Life, an educational consulting firm assisting high schools with successfully creating and growing their career and graduation pathways.  She is a strong advocate for the students she guides, helping to add value to their lives by clearing a path to a state-recognized diploma, and pioneering alternative education pathways that have recently been a point of discussion at the State House. She is also an Independent Mental Health Case Manager where she works with students, helping to remove barriers to education. In addition, Kathy has been a licensed Insurance Agent since 2006, and specializes in the senior market of Medicaid/Medicare dual eligibility. Her strengths include decoding the difficult language in the plans, and presenting them in a more logical manner as to allow clients a clearer understanding.
With the mindset of helping underserved youth, Kathy worked in Corrections, and subsequently became a Hearing Officer at the Hamilton County Juvenile Court where she oversaw the unofficial docket. She then moved on to Hamilton County Children’s Services as a Case Manager, and handled child abuse and neglect cases. Later, Kathy worked with Ford Motor Company as a Manufacturing Technician, and credits her diverse employment history to her ability to relate to, and understand the needs of the people.
