The Community Makeover Comes to the Village

The Community Makeover Comes to the Village

In March, the Village celebrated its selection for the 2022 Community Makeover – which brings together some of Cincinnati’s oldest and most iconic institutions to make a transformative and sustainable impact on communities. It also strengthens youth baseball and softball. The Cincinnati Reds, P&G, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and General Electric all participate in the Makeover.

The Makeover will feature six project sites within the Village. Memorial Field will see field improvements, entryway upgrades, ADA accessibility and more. Lincoln Heights Elementary will get indoor and outdoor renovations that add solar power, STEM resources and broadband access. Renovations to greenspace and playgrounds plus indoor community spaces are targeted for Serenity Park and the Municipal Building. St. Monica’s Center will receive a teen room makeover and outdoor recreation space. Lincoln Heights Outreach, Inc.’s clothing story and food pantry will be renovated and a new adult learning space will be added. The HealthCare Connection – Lincoln Heights Health Center will receive indoor and outdoor renovations and beautification.

Preliminary work will begin in the spring and the community will be invited to a groundbreaking ceremony. Stay tuned for the date.

The Makeover will culminate on August 4th when more than 400 volunteers will join Village residents and community leaders for a day-long service project.
