Update: The Wi-Fi Project
For years, internet service in the Village has been spotty at best and sometimes completely non-existent. Of course, you already knew that. Here’s something you may not know: the Village is working to fix that problem by creating a reliable, affordable Wi-Fi network that will provide internet access to all residents.
Creating this network is a complex and expensive undertaking, so it is being completed in phases. The first phase, which will create the foundation of the network, is already underway. The Village has selected PowerNet as the vendor for the network, and PowerNet has assembled a team to handle the equipment and ensure a best-in-class user experience. We’ll keep you informed as the system takes shape.
The Wi-Fi network is a key piece of the Village’s new strategic plan that, among other things, focuses on improving infrastructure for residents. Reliable, affordable internet service – which brings with it the educational and social benefits of connectivity as well as the digital skills increasingly demanded by employers – is every bit as important as paving streets and providing law enforcement.
