Letter from the Mayor

Letter from the Mayor
Looking forward to great things in 2023.

It’s easy to be excited about the future when the future is happening. That’s the kind of year 2022 was for the Village of Lincoln Heights: a moment in time when the future began to arrive.

The most visible evidence of the Village’s revitalization came when Lincoln Heights was chosen by the Cincinnati Reds for its 2022 Community Makeover – a massive effort that featured six different projects throughout the Village. We would like to thank the Reds and their partners from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Procter & Gamble and General Electric for all their hard work and investment, and their dedication to our Village.

Less visible but no less important was the adoption by the Village of a new Land Use plan. This plan – developed with input from our residents and guidance by Village leadership and a committee of experts – will help ensure that the Lincoln Heights revitalization is an orderly, logical effort that benefits residents.

Putting this plan into action – and furthering the implementation of our six-point strategic plan – was greatly aided by two grants. Lincoln Heights received a $300,000 grant from the State of Ohio for use on the Memorial Field renovation. And the Village also received a Community Impact Grant of nearly $1 million from the Hamilton County Commissioners, which will catalyze economic development in the heart of Lincoln Heights and allow for long-deferred maintenance and repair of the Village’s streets.

All this gives the Village great momentum for 2023. And it means great opportunities for you to get involved. To hear more about these and other opportunities, please feel free to email me any time at rkmumphrey@vlho.org.

We hope to hear from you!

Sincerely,
Ruby Kinsey-Mumphrey, Mayor
