Hamilton County Sheriff
Sergeant Steve Raker has served with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for over 28 years. Sergeant Raker began his career with the Sheriff’s Office for 2 years as a Corrections Officer. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to a Patrol Officer in 1994 and worked in various assignments throughout the county; including but not limited to, Marine Patrol, Motorcycle Patrol and as a Beat Officer.
In 1998, Sergeant Raker was again promoted to Corporal and reassigned as a Detective in 1999. In that role, Sergeant Raker investigated cases throughout the entire Hamilton County. In 2004, Steve Raker was promoted to Sergeant and attended the North Western University School of Police Staff and Command in 2005.
As a Sergeant, Mr. Raker has supervised patrol squads in various townships, including, Over the Rhine when officers were assigned for extra support patrol. Sergeant Raker was also assigned to Hamilton County’s Traffic Safety Unit where he supervised the Motorcycle Patrol Unit. In 2014, Sergeant Raker was one of the first supervisors assigned to the Village of Lincoln Heights when The Lincoln Heights Police Department was dismantled. In this role, Sergeant Raker was assigned to be the liaison between The Village of Lincoln Heights and The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in January 2019. Since the inception of this year, Sergeant Raker’s mission in this assignment is looking forward to assisting Village Council and the residents of Lincoln Heights anyway needed/possible.
